Respecting others’ choices is the last resort of the timid idealist.

Oh wow. stfucarnists exists?
Do you really expect everyone to be vegan given food deserts, class privilege and social differences?
Fuck that.
Damn right this blog exists. As long as bloodmouths exist, so will angry vegans.
Are we really going back to this bullshit cop out again? So because there might be some impoverished person who doesn’t have any current knowledge on veganism, that means you are now allowed to use that as a reason for why you’re personally not vegan?
Yes, food deserts exist as do class and social differences. Do these things erase the responsibility of the individual to not push their problems off on those less fortunate than themselves? Abso-fuckin-lutely not. You bring up class differences and privileges among humans while completely ignoring the fact that any human has a considerable amount of privilege over every non-human animal regardless of their circumstances. What about the privileges of every human being, in that we will never have to worry about being systematically bred and exploited all of our lives simply for our flesh or our milk or eggs like all non-humans are? Or what about the privilege we have which allows us to be seen by most people of the world as being automatically deserving of rights? What about the privilege humans have where we are seen as more worthy of life and happiness than every other sentient life form, simply because we were born human? You can’t fight for the rights of humans while ignoring the plight of all of those with even less power and rights than humans. It’s all the same fight.
And let’s be real here. What’s your reason for not being vegan? Because you think one person’s circumstances might excuse them from ethical consideration of those without voices, that means you shouldn’t have to use your brain and consider how your choices affect others? Ignoring the fact that you excusing someone from veganism is downright speciesism, let’s just take a look at what you’re really saying. “Well, I think so and so may not be able to go vegan, so that means now I should say no one has to go vegan and I can therefore say that no one should give their actions ethical consideration.” Do you not see how fucking ridiculous that is?
Yeah, just go ahead and fight against a system that oppresses humans, while fully supporting a system that exploits and oppresses billions of other sentient beings who are just as capable of suffering, and expect to not get called out on the utter hypocrisy of that. Makes perfect sense.

just here to laugh at this, really
… My reason for not being vegan is I like meat. :|
CHEESE. I think it’s safer for the world and everyone in it that I am not denied cheese.
“any human has a considerable amount of privilege over every non-human animal regardless of their circumstances. Wow, this person reeks of privilege and ignorance. Humans are most definitely NOT exempt from being systematically bred and exploited all of their lives and some of that exploitation has included for their milk. Ever hear of wet nurses? Historically many of them were slaves or bonds women or just too poor to turn down the opportunity to make some needed money. And eggs? Most egg donors are volunteers, true, but for some economics are a factor in deciding to do it and that’s exploitation even if they freely agree to it.
The being systematically bred part comes up in the history of American slavery when some slave owners would pair men and women because they’d turn out strong children with no regard to what the couple might want.
STFUCarnists needs to take a break from trolling the web and spend some time reading up on social justice issues involving the exploitation of the two legs as well as the four legs.
